Stay Safe in Summer: SPSA's essential tips for public protection

July 25, 2023 / 1:31 PM
Sharjah24: Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority (SPSA) has called upon the public to follow safety procedures during the summer season to protect against potential risks. These risks directly impact the well-being of those working under the sun. The authority's educational campaigns on social media focus on three key areas: fire safety, heatstroke prevention, and the dangers of drowning in swimming pools.
Sheikh Saif bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Director of SPSA, emphasises their commitment to reducing potential hazards in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, safeguarding both lives and properties. The authority works diligently to raise awareness about these risks and promote preventive measures, striving to create a secure community, free from harm.

Engineer Mohammed Al Zarouni, Head of the Projects Department, explains that high temperatures and hot weather can lead to various risks, necessitating awareness and precautionary measures. Fire incidents in residential, commercial, and industrial areas tend to increase during this period, often due to negligence regarding fire safety protocols, such as lacking fire extinguishers, early warning systems, or neglecting regular fire system maintenance, which worsens the severity of accidents.

The authority urges parents to closely supervise their children during swimming activities to avoid potential dangers like drowning, slipping, or falling.

Moreover, the authority has dedicated the month of May to raise awareness about summer risks resulting from high temperatures. The authority recommends accessing their awareness leaflets, available on their website: https://spsa.shj.ae/.
