WAM signs 5 cooperation agreements at Global Media Congress

Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Emirates News Agency (WAM) signed five media cooperation agreements with major news agencies and TV channels in its pavilion at the Global Media Congress, held under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court.
WAM signed agreements with the Xinhua News Agency, PT. Sarana Dinamika Jaya (Media Group Network), the ITAR-TASS News Agency, RT Arabic, and the Kyrgyz National News Agency (Kabar), with the aim of enhancing its stature as a reliable news provider in different languages.

The cooperation agreements were signed by Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of the Emirates News Agency and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee of the Global Media Congress, with Zhang Hao, Head of the Regional Office for the Middle East at the Xinhua News Agency; Mohammad Mirdal Akib, CEO of the PT. Sarana Dinamika Jaya; Sergei Mikhailov, General Director of ITAR-TASS; Maya Manna, Director of RT Arabic; and Mederbek Shermetaliev, General Manager of Kabar.

The cooperation agreements aim to promote media cooperation between WAM and other agencies and media establishments in exchanging news and media content.

Al Rayssi stressed that the media cooperation agreements aim to strengthen WAM’s cooperation with its media partners, adding that forging such partnerships is a key objective of the Global Media Congress, which will facilitate the exchange of international media expertise and convey the UAE’s message to the rest of the world.

The signing of the agreements also highlights the UAE’s prominent international stature and its capacity to shape the future of the media, with the participation of countries from six continents, he said.

The representatives of news agencies and TV channels highlighted the importance of strengthening their cooperation with WAM, noting the global importance of the UAE, due to its initiatives, projects and achievements that have a universal impact.

The Global Media Congress is an international platform for creating new media concepts and shaping the future of the sector, they added.
