Xposure 2023 photographers display cutting-edge space photography

February 10, 2023 / 6:52 PM
Sharjah24: On the second day of Xposure 2023, photographers talked about what it was like to take pictures of space and how they used cutting-edge techniques to do what had been hard before.
When the Berlin Wall came down and the political landscape of Eastern Europe shifted, British photographer John Angerson got his start. Since then, he has focused on how different communities form, change, and grow through his research into the many photographic documentation languages.

He has on display at Exposure a body of work named "STS 72 NASA" astronauts, which is a compilation of shots made in 1996 (before the negatives were lost) and recently recovered (during the lockdown), together with many other images from NASA's library of photographs taken around the same time.

Beginning his photographic career as a photojournalist, Dan Winters has since expanded his horizons. He had already won numerous accolades at the provincial level before making the move to New York City in pursuit of employment with the most prestigious publications in the world. His portraits of famous people, as well as his work in science and aerospace photography, have won him widespread acclaim.

Through his unique show "Beyond Flight," he presents space and space programmes at NASA, SpaceX, and the Russian space agency Roscosmos at Xposure in Sharjah.

Andy Saunders The British author, science writer, and one of the world’s foremost experts in NASA digital restoration. His photographic work has been exhibited internationally at some of the most renowned venues.

He is exhibiting at Exposure a collection of images with the title, "Pollo remastered" with an image for the Apollo moon landings, but the first time he used digital reprocessing was in a project that started in 2019 where he tried quite an unusual digital processing technique to produce an image like those that were always missing from history books.
