Sharjah 24: The Sharjah General Directorate of Civil Defence (SGDCD) team won 3-1 over the General Directorate of the Emiri Guard in the 23rd edition of the football championship for government bodies, institutions and departments in Sharjah, which was organised by the Sharjah Government Employees Club in cooperation with Al Thiqa Club for Handicapped and under the supervision of the Sharjah Sports Council.

The match and the honouring ceremonies saw the presence of Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Thiqah Club for Handicapped and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Government Employees Club; Counselor Humaid Ali Al Abbar, Member of the Federal National Council, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Government Employees Club; Brigadier General Arif Al Sharif, Director General of the General Department of Resources and Transport in Sharjah Police; and Colonel Sami Al Naqbi, Director General of the General Directorate of Civil Defence; members of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Government Employees Club, Al Thiqa Club for the Disabled, and representatives of government departments participating in the tournament.

Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadim confirmed that the success of the championship is the fruit of cooperation between the Al Thiqa Club for Handicapped and the Sharjah Government Employees Club, realising the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, towards strengthening cooperation among all government institutions in Sharjah, appreciating the great social success achieved by the tournament. He also appreciated the role of the Sharjah Sports Council for its pioneering role in overseeing the various activities of the event.

Colonel Sami Al Naqbi praised the efforts of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Government Employees Club in organising such a tournament and the great success achieved with the participation of this number of teams, pointing out that the Sharjah Government Employees Club is a cultural destination for the smiling emirate because of its high-end goals of spreading sports in all sectors of society and helping break the daily routine of workers, thus contributing to increasing productivity and excellence.
