SP launches campaign to combat beggary

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Police (SP) has launched an awareness campaign to combat beggary under the slogan (Begging is a crime... and giving is a responsibility), with the aim of educating members of the public about the dangers that these behaviours pose to society.
Brigadier General Ahmed Haji Al Sarkal, Director General of Police Operations at the SP, said that begging is one of the behaviours that are active during the holy month of Ramadan, during which beggars take advantage of people’s sympathy using various methods and tricks to obtain money illegally. 

Brigadier General Al Sarkal explained that the campaign continues beyond the blessed Eid Al Fitr, and all the teams concerned with combating beggary have been directed to control these illegal practices, and to take all legal measures against them.

He noted that a systematic plaى has been prepared to confront these behaviours. In addition to broadcasting awareness messages through the social media accounts of the SP on a frequent basis, as well ass displaying awareness materials in cooperation with partners to combat these behaviours.

SP calls on members of the public to actively contribute to eliminating these behaviours on the basis of social responsibility, by donating through charitable associations and institutions officially approved by government entities, and cooperating with security entities by immediately reporting any beggar who is monitored anywhere.
