Sharjah 24: In accordance with the wise leadership's directives, the Emirate of Sharjah places a high value on women in all of their roles. The Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) has allocated many programmes for women, including mothers, widows, working women, divorced women, etc, with the goal of assisting them in expanding their perspectives and contributing to development.

Given the circumstances in which they and their children live after losing the breadwinner and the head of the family, widows receive special care and attention from the Sharjah Social Services Department, and they are provided with material, moral, psychological, health, and legal support.

In addition to the various support programmes, the department implements rehabilitation programmes through the "Intaj" centre for home production, which supports the establishment of commercial projects for all social assistance recipients.

According to Alia Al Zaabi, Director of the Social Assistance Department, the department has given widows’ category a lot of attention for many years, and the value of the monthly aid provided to this category is about 5 million and 453 thousand dirhams.
