Sharjah 24: Friends for Diabetes Association (FDA), one of the associations affiliated to the Health Promotion Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, recently wrapped up its educational and awareness programme called "Superhero." This initiative was carried out in partnership with the Emirates Schools Establishment and the Sharjah Private Education Authority, aiming to promote health and well-being.
A ceremony was held at the Sharjah Cultural Palace, with the presence of Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Creative Association and the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, as well as Khawla Taher Al Haj, Chairperson of the Association, and other esteemed guests and officials.

The programme, which started in September 2023, received a strong response from students and their parents, reaching around 33,973 students from different participating schools. Around 140 students took part in a range of awareness competitions, enjoying a variety of educational and recreational activities that were carefully planned and organised.

A number of prestigious schools were visited in Sharjah and the neighbouring cities, including Al Madam, Al Bataeh, Kalba, Dibba Al Hisn, Khorfakkan, and Al Dhaid. The participating schools also presented a variety of health and awareness exhibitions during visits by the campaign heads and association teams.

Khawla Al Haj was delighted with the program's success, which included the participation of 36 public and private schools in Sharjah and the central and eastern regions.

She credited this achievement to the inspiring leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs. Al Haj highlighted the crucial role of Her Highness's support and guidance in successfully accomplishing the association's objectives, encouraging a healthy lifestyle among the community.

Al Haj also emphasised the successful partnerships with the Emirates Schools Establishment and the Sharjah Private Education Authority, leading to the development of a range of innovative and significant programmes.

Some highlights of the event included a captivating dance performance by Al Sidra School, an enlightening health awareness play by Saif Al Yarubi School, and a beautifully crafted lyrical poem by Sultan Al Houthari from Al Noor International School. The ceremony ended with the announcement of 10 schools that emerged as winners in the Outstanding School Contest, along with 25 individuals who were recognised for their achievements in different artistic categories.
