Sharjah 24: The Group Games Management at the Sharjah Sports Club organised the third edition of the annual Ramadan tournament for youth handball stages, named after the late Hamad Abu Shabs, the former handball administrator at Club.

The preliminary rounds of the tournament kicked off on Saturday and Sunday of the past week, March 23rd and 24th, in a league format from the first round. They will continue on the 30th and 31st of the same month, with the participation of 4 clubs totaling 6 teams from the junior and youth categories. Sharjah Club participates with three teams: Sharjah (A), (B), and (C), in addition to Al Ahli Dubai Youth Club, Khorfakkan Club, and Al Madam Club. The teams have been divided into groups according to age categories.

The organisation of the third edition of this tournament, which had its first edition in 2021, comes as a tribute to the memory of Hamad Abu Shabs and in recognition of his former administrative contributions to handball at Sharjah Club. He made significant contributions to the sport during his tenure at the club. Abu Shabs was one of the loyal and dedicated members of Sharjah Club, known for his exemplary character. He enjoyed great respect and affection within the Sharjah and Emirati handball community.

The tournament also aims to facilitate the exchange of experiences and interactions among players of different age groups, as well as preparing them technically and physically through competition between various categories. All youth teams of the Sharjah Handball Club have received the league shield for the 2023-2024 sports season and are preparing to compete in the cup competition.
