1500 runners dash into action for 'Labbaik Khorfakkan' race ‎

Sharjah 24: Dr. Ammar Allay Al Naqbi, Secretary General of the Khorfakkan Sports and Cultural Club, revealed that the “Labbaik Khorfakkan” race attracted about 1,500 participants in its second edition, which the club organised on Saturday from the Khofakkan Amphitheatre.
In the presence of Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of Sharjah Ruler's Office in Khorfakkan, the Khorfakkan Sports Cultural Club organised the "Labbaik Khorfakkan" running race for the second consecutive year on Saturday. This event was held in collaboration with the Sharjah Sports Council, the UAE Athletics Federation, the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, and saw the participation of various governmental institutions and sports clubs.

The race and the subsequent winners' ceremony were graced by the presence of notable figures including Salem Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Khorfakkan Sports Cultural Club, His Excellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, and Major General Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Murr, President of the UAE Athletics Federation. The event also attracted a gathering of officials and representatives from federations and sports clubs.

Dr. Ammar Allay Al Naqbi, Secretary General of the Khorfakkan Sports and Cultural Club, mentioned that the second edition of the race drew approximately 1500 participants across various categories.

Al Naqbi elaborated that the race, which commenced from the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre and traversed through the city, comprised three stages: a 3-kilometre stage catering to families and children, a 6-kilometre stage for women and girls, and an 8-kilometre stage designated for professional male runners.

The primary objective of the race, as outlined by Al Naqbi, is to promote both tourism and sports within the city of Khorfakkan. Additionally, it aims to encourage diverse segments of society to adopt sports as a lifestyle while also providing support to local athletes and offering them the opportunity to engage with professional counterparts.
