Third Khorfakkan challenge attracts 100 contestants

Sharjah24: The Sharjah Sports Council's third Khorfakkan Cycling Challenge, held on Sunday, October 29th, was a spectacular sports and humanitarian triumph.
The event attracted 100 athletes, both men and women from the cycling enthusiasts and supporters. This event, which coincided with Arab Cycling Day, was held in Al Suhub Rest Area in Khorfakkan, in collaboration with Al-Qudra Sports Services and a number of other organisations and companies.

Participants battled across an 8-kilometre course and ascended 600 metres above sea level.

The proceeds from the third edition of the event were dedicated to supporting and assisting those affected in Gaza, in collaboration with Sharjah Charitable International and the national campaign launched by the UAE, 'Tarahum for Gaza.' (a compassion campaign aimed at providing relief to Palestinians affected by the war in the Gaza Strip),

Abdullah Sultan Al-Hamadi, Member of the Board of Directors; Salem Al-Naqbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Khorfakkan Sports and Cultural Club; and Dr Yasser Omar Al-Dukhi, Secretary-General of the Emirates Cycling Federation, as well as the director of sports and community events, as well as a number of managers and officials, attended the award ceremony.

Hasan Sultan won first place in the citizens' category for men, while Hala Mohammed won first place in the citizens' category for women. Salem Juma earned the gold medal in the individuals with disabilities category, and Khalifa Mohammed won first place in the open men's event.

Abdullah Sultan stated that the event demonstrates the importance of sports in society by promoting overall wellness.

Dr. Yasser Omar Al-Dukhi complimented the event for its humanitarian and sports successes by all criteria, thanking the sponsoring groups and participants who helped organise the race."
