SSSD launches Holy Quran competition for its affiliates

Sharjah 24: For the fourth year in a row, the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), represented by the Department of Institutional Performance, in coordination and cooperation with the Sharjah Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment, is organising the Holy Quran Competition for its members, including the elderly, people with disabilities, abused women, and children. The competition is one of the annual competitions that aims to encourage members of all categories to continue memorising the Holy Quran.
Dr. Maryam Al Kindi, Director of the Department’s Excellence Office, stated that the first qualifying stage has been completed, and during the next week, the winners of the competition will be announced, adding that the number of participants in the competition is 90 male and female participants. The value of the prizes reaches 30,700 dirhams. Each category of the competition has 3 first places.

Al Kindi continued that the competition was divided into several categories according to ages. There is a category of 60 years and above, and they compete with Surat Al-Fajr until Surat Al-Naas, and most of them are women. The second category is designated for the age group between 40 and 59 years, and competition is for the entire Juz’ Amma. The third category is allocated to the age group between 20 and 39 years old, and competition is for the entire Juz’ Tabarak segment.

As for the fourth category, between 13-19 years old, paticipants compete in Surat Al Mulk, Surat Al Qalam, Surat Al Naba’ and Surat Al Nazi’at. The fifth and final category is designated for children from 6 to 12 years old, who will compete in Surat Al Ala to Surat Al Naas.

An evaluation committee from the Sharjah Noble Quran and Sunnah Establishment is responsible for judging the competition.
