Sharjah24: The Sharjah Civil Aviation Department (SCAD) and the United Nations' World Food Programme (WFP) have partnered to improve aviation safety throughout the world via capacity-building and education. On Tuesday, November 14, the agreement was signed at the Sharjah Airport Authority and Sharjah Civil Aviation Department's headquarters.
Officials from both organisations, including Sharjah's Department of Civil Aviation Chairman Sheikh Khalid Bin Issam Al Qassimi and the UN World Food Programme's Chief of Aviation Service Franklin Frimpong, were present for the signing event.

Supporting aviation safety initiatives within events organised by the WFP's Regional Aviation Safety Office, such as training sessions, seminars, conferences, and special projects, will benefit both parties within the terms of this agreement.

Sheikh Khalid bin Issam Al Qassimi emphasised the necessity of developing the concept of aviation safety in any activities and programmes organised by the department. He highlighted Sharjah Airport's central location between East and West, which facilitates the rapid transport of both commercial planes and humanitarian aid groups.

In accordance with the terms of the agreement, the Sharjah Civil Aviation Department will send qualified lecturers and trainers to conferences, workshops, and other events hosted by the World Food Programme in order to promote aviation safety and engage with supporters of the cause.
