Sharjah Elections Cmte Supports Candidate Registration Phase

Sharjah24: The Supreme Committee for the Consultative Council Elections in Sharjah held a meeting with the leaders and members of the nine electoral district committees in the Emirate to provide support for a crucial phase in the Consultative Council elections of Sharjah. This stage involves the registration of candidates.
The meeting occurred at the Consultative Council headquarters in Sharjah this morning, where they introduced the second phase of the elections, which encompasses the procedures for candidate registration and the election criteria. They offered a comprehensive explanation of the workflow and the necessary rules to be adhered to.

Present at the meeting were members of the Supreme Committee for the Consultative Council Elections, including Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police; Asma Rashid Sultan bin Taliah, Secretary General of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah; Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Secretary-General of Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC); and Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Digital Office, along with the leaders and members of the electoral district committees in the emirate.

During the meeting, the Management Committee members discussed the general requirements for candidacy and the specific conditions for different categories, as well as issues related to campaign activities and their approval.

In his opening remarks, Ahmed Saeed Al Jarawan, who also serves as the Chairman of the Election Management Committee, stressed the significance of this important meeting as part of the ongoing process to ensure the success of the Consultative Council elections in Sharjah. He emphasised the collective efforts to provide the best services and conditions for both voters and candidates, highlighting the preparations for the second phase of the elections, which involves registering candidates who represent the aspirations and ambitions of the people.

The meeting then focused on the candidate registration process, the requirements for Consultative Council membership, which will start on the upcoming Tuesday, the 31st of October, and continue for three consecutive days at the electoral district offices in the nine municipalities of Sharjah. The registration fee for candidates is AED3,000, in addition to the financial collection system fees, bringing the total cost to AED3,061.4.

Subsequently, the regulations governing campaign activities were reviewed, with an emphasis on upholding community values and principles and adhering to the rules and regulations.
