Sharjah 24: As part of its preparations for the second phase of the elections, dedicated to registering candidates, Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) Election Committee organised a training workshop for executive employees of the polling stations, as part of its keenness to raise the efficiency of employees to conduct elections.
The training workshop is a qualitative step in preparing the concerned authorities for the second phase of the elections, and enhances the transparency and integrity of the electoral process in the Emirate of Sharjah.

These efforts come within the framework of strengthening community participation in the 3rd round of Sharjah elections in 2023, which has taken the slogan “Participate in decision making”.

The workshop took place at SCC headquarters, in the presence of a large number of participants and members of the Election Committee.

During the workshop, several main points were highlighted in relation to candidates’ registration procedures and the conditions for running for SCC membership, which will start from the thirty-first of Octobre, until the second of Novembre, over a period of three continuous days at the electoral constituents in the nine municipalities of the Emirate of Sharjah.

The workshop’s topics included the restrictions on membership in SCC, namely emphasising that no candidate may combine membership in SCC with membership in the Federal National Council (FNC), the Executive Council, municipal councils, suburban and village councils, or any position in the government.

It also allowed candidates to have an agent acting on their behalf through a special legal power of attorney approved by a notary public. The agency must include a special clause regarding follow-up registration for membership in SCC.

The workshop also addressed the organisational distribution of work in the constituent, and the distribution of roles and powers, and the speed of completion were clarified.
