Sharjah 24: A new achievement added to the forensic laboratory at the Sharjah Police (SP), where its teams were able to detect two new types of modern manufactured cannabis drugs.

The drugs were hidden in packages for cosmetics, and this came as a result of the efforts made by the team through analyses, experiments and research practices, using the latest scientific and technical methods.

Such efforts fall into the objectives of the SP in line with the strategy of the Ministry of Interior aimed at enhancing security and safety.

Colonel Engineer Adel Ahmed Al Mazmi, Acting Head of the Foresenic Laboratory Department, stated that the manufactured cannabis drugs are synthetic compounds that can be synthesised in secret laboratories, and have the same effect as cannabis, but they are more effective than cannabis by 80%-100% times.

He added that its use leads to death, noting the readiness and preparedness of the laboratory in combating crime and drug trafficking, and dealing with developments in the field.
