Poland plans fence on border with Kaliningrad

Sharjah24 – AFP: Poland's Defence Minister announces the construction of a barrier along the border with the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad, to prevent illegal crossings amid concerns in Warsaw that Russia plans to orchestrate an influx of migrants.
Commenting on this, Mariusz Blaszczak, Polish Minister of Defence said, "In connection with the disturbing information of the opening of Kaliningrad airport to aircraft from the Middle East and North Africa, I have decided to take measures to strengthen the security at the border between Poland and the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad and to make it more watertight."

The Polish Minister of Defence added, "The temporary barrier will consist of three rows of razor wire, 3 metres wide and 2.5 metres high. At the same time, work will be carried out to set up the perimeter, i.e. equipment that will allow electronic surveillance of the border with the Kaliningrad region."

He continued, "Last year, this temporary barrier on the Polish-Belarusian border prevented or at least strongly slowed down a hybrid attack from Belarusian territory. That's why we came to the conclusion that an identical barrier should be built on the border with the Kaliningrad enclave."
