Sharjah Police, Girl Guides Crowned 1st at Sharjah Padel Tennis

Sharjah24: The Sharjah Government Employees Ramadan Padel Tennis Championship concluded on a high note on Sunday with Sharjah Police and Sharjah Girl Guides Commission emerging at the top. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, and organised by the Sharjah Events website of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, the first Padel Tennis Championship in Sharjah featured 170 players representing 35 government entities.
A total of 80 teams took part in the Championship, five of them competing in the women's category.

The Sharjah Police team clinched the crown in the championship held at the Padel Point Stadium in Sharjah, by defeating the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority team in the final match. The final encounter witnessed a great deal of excitement and tough competition between the two teams. The Sharjah Police team was able to finally prevail emerging ahead with three runs and winning the first Padel Tennis Championship crown.

His Exellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director-General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, crowned the champions of the first edition of the Sharjah Government Employees Ramadan Padel Tennis Championship in the presence of His Excellency Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police.

Her Excellency Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, crowned the Sharjah Girl Guides Commission as the winners of women's championship. The Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation team won the second place.

The final day of the championship saw an exhibition match with the participation of top padel tennis players ranked among the 10 best in the world, who wowed everyone with their marvelous professional performance and skills, in the presence of the masses of fans and followers of the padel tennis sport.

Speaking on the occasion, Allay lauded the remarkable response to and success of the first Padel Tennis Championship, creating a wonderful sports gathering during the holy month of Ramadan. “The competitive atmosphere witnessed at various levels during the championship brought out the high levels of skills of the participating players, and achieved its goals by strengthening the team spirit of government agencies and the interdependence among their employees.”

He added that the great turnout the tournament witnessed and the high levels of its competitions serve as the incentive to continue it and do even better in years ahead.
