Souq Al Jubail contributes to local food security

Sharjah24: Souq Al Jubail in Sharjah, owned by Sharjah Asset Management, the investment arm of the Government of Sharjah, plays a vital role in achieving local food security and its sustainability. It provides various types of fish, meat, vegetables and fruits at competitive prices. It is a tourist and recreational destination for families and individuals; in addition to its role and function as a leading source for the products and family needs in the emirate, the market is witnessing a remarkable and significant turnout of shoppers and visitors.
Talal Muhammad, Senior Manager at Souq Al Jubail in Sharjah, said, "since the beginnings of the founding and establishment of Souq Al Jubail, we have been keen to have various food commodities, including vegetables, fruits, meat and fish in large and reassuring quantities under one roof that enjoys the confidence of all, in terms of quality, appropriate and competitive prices, and the level of cleanliness and taking into account all the details related to safety and public health."

He adds, "this comes in light of periodic control over all goods and materials provided by the market, by specialists and inspectors from Sharjah municipality, health inspectors, and the continuation of carrying out daily tours in the market, in addition to other control bodies from the economic department and food control, which we see today has been achieved with the best images and standards. The market today constitutes a vital contribution to food security, in addition to being a tourist and recreational destination for families, individuals and visitors who come to it from various cities and regions of the country."

He continued that there are more than 250 products in Souq Al Jubail, distributed among 3 sections, all of which contain 260 stores, which are the vegetables and fruits section, 160 stores, of which 40 are for dates, the meat section, which includes 60 stores, the fresh fish section, which includes 40 stores, in addition to the grill section, and two sections for cleaning and cutting fish, as more than 70 employees work per day to meet market customers' requests for this service at nominal prices. He assures that the prices are suitable for everyone. A variety of services and other facilities are also available in the market, such as telecommunications, ATMs, a supermarket, a pharmacy, and others.

Local and imported fish
In the fish section of Souq Al Jubail, local and imported fish are available with the highest specifications and standards, in compliance with the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, to support the profession of fishermen. The fish section is distinguished by having obtained an ISO quality certificate for years, and is the first market in the region to achieve this. It is constantly receiving a remarkable turnout from shoppers and market visitors, who always express their confidence in the level of services, high quality and cleanliness.
