500 children at the “winter camp” in Sharjah

Sharjah 24: In an atmosphere full of fun, nearly 500 boys and girls participated in the "winter camp" launched by "Sharjah Children", affiliated with the he Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating future Leaders and Innovators, on Sunday, December 12th, in six centres across Sharjah.
The camp included a number of specialised training courses for children, from 6 to 12 years, including the "Manga Art" course, whereas participants learned the basics of this art, how to write a comic, build characters, and the rules of drawing in the Japanese style, and apply what they learned to produce creative stories inspired by their imagination.

The “Jewelry Design” course, introduced children to gemstones, types, properties, and how to colour stones, in addition to how to create distinctive designs for necklaces, bracelets and hair accessories. The course aimed to enhance children's creative values, and aesthetic taste in the field of design.

In an effort to keep pace with everything new about future cities and how to draw their features, during the "Engineering Step" course, children implemented many activities to build integrated smart cities using electronic units called "little bits", in addition to making home protection systems, traffic lights and other systems.

On the other hand, with the aim of getting acquainted with cultures, customs and languages of the peoples; children learned the basics and rules of the Spanish language in the "Learn Spanish" course, where they were introduced to the alphabet and vocabulary, in addition to numbers, greetings, and colours.

The camp is also full of a variety of purposeful and varied courses that contribute to discovering children’s talents and refining their abilities, including: a course in handicraft skills entitled “Needle and Thread”, a course in “Life Skills”, “Puppet Theatre”, “Theatrical Make-up”, as well as “Melodies Course”, in addition to sports activities such as swimming.

Noura Ali Al Shamsi, Director of the Children Care Department, said that the activities of the winter camp were launched on the 12th of December, targeting approximately 500 boys and girls, according to the capacity of the centres and in line with the precautionary and preventive measures and to ensure children safety.

Al Shamsi explained that "Sharjah Children" is keen to organise many programmes and activities in conjunction with the school holidays to invest in children free time by involving them in a variety of programmes and training courses in different fields that contribute to discovering their skills and developing their scientific and practical capabilities.

It is worth noting that the activities of the "winter camp" for Sharjah children will continue until December 23rd; in Children Centres in Al Khalidiya and Al Heera in Sharjah and Children Centres in Al Dhaid and Al Bataeh in the Central Region; and in two children centres in Wadi Al Hilu, and Kalba in the Eastern Province.
