Sharjah 24: Coinciding with International Mountain Day, the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) announced opening of registration for Khorfakkan Mountain Challenge, which will kick off on December 10 at 7 AM, at Al Rabi Mountains Trail located at the highest peak of the Eastern mountains.

The event will be held in collaboration with Al Qudra Sports Management and Khorfakkan Cultural and Sports Club.

The Sharjah Sports Council announced that Thursday will be the closing day for accepting participation requests in the three- kilometer- long challenge. Registration can be made through http://www.eevents.ae/kmc.

Yasser Omar Al Doukhi, Director of Sports and Community Events Department at the SSC, called on racing and adventure enthusiasts to participate in the challenge, which is held within the council’s plan to shed light on the tourist attractions in the Emirate of Sharjah, and to invest community events in promoting the culture of sports as a way of life.

He added that the winners’ medals will bear the inscription of Al Rabi Mountain and the name of the challenge in both Arabic and English with the date to document the event.

Al Doukhi stressed that the organising committee took all guarantees for the success of the event, and adopted all COVID-19 related precautionary measures to secure the participants’ safety.
