SCHS holds a seminar on mental health in workplaces

Sharjah 24: Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) held the "Mental Health of Workers in Education and Rehabilitation " seminar, on October 10, the World Mental Health Day.
The seminar highlighted the importance of mental health of workers in the fields of education and rehabilitation, exchanging successful experiences of institutions in enhancing their workgroups, and offering guidance in developing strategies to promote mental health in workplaces.


Mohamed Abdel Moneim Qeshta, the Council of Psychologists rapporteur in the SCHS and the coordinator of the seminar, stressed that the SCHS is keen to provide information, exchange experiences, and propose solutions that support the mental health of workers.


The seminar’s first axis consisted of four presentations, delivered by several specialists, on mental health policies and programmes in the workplace, the importance of the employees’ mental health, the concept of self-care and its practices, the correlation between mental health and productivity


The second axis of the seminar included five presentations covering several issues such as, the happiness and quality of life for employees, the importance of the relationship between physical health, productivity and quality of work, the occupational safety for handicapped employees within the work environment, the mental health of employees during crises, and the importance of promoting mental health for teachers
