Sharjah 24: Al Hamriyah Municipality launched an initiative inviting employees to honour their elderly family members at their homes, as part of its activities to celebrate the International Day for Older Persons, which falls on the first of October each year.

Al Hamriyah Municipality employees carried gifts, prepared by the municipality, to be delivered to the elderly, and sat with them.

The event that was held under the supervision of Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, included all employees from various departments and sections and reflected the communication and appreciation between different generations.

The elderly welcomed the visit of their children and grandchildren, praising the initiative that made them happy and heartened.

Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, confirmed that the municipality has invited all employees to celebrate the International Day for the Elderly by visiting their parents and grandparents living with them or close to them, carrying gifts and checking on their health, pointing out that the initiative aimed to communicate and interact with senior citizens, improve their quality of life and ensure their safety. 

He explained that all municipality staff sought to celebrate this occasion by organising development and social activities that stimulate the targeted community segments, who are senior citizens.
