Sharjah24 – Reuters: Several thousand protesters took to the street of Munich to show their discontent with the Munich International car show IAA and demanded sustainable mobility. According to the organisers some 25,000 protesters took part in bicycle rallies as well as marches under the motto "#aussteigen" (exit), the police said they only counted protesters in the lower thousands.
The event was mostly peaceful, however there were the occasional flare-up of clashes with the police. Some protesters climbed trees and the police were reported on social media to have used pepper spray.

Many of the demonstrators who came and marched by bicycle said that the mobility transformation as propagated by the car industry was not enough, and they wanted a change, some even in politics.

A total of nine campaigners were detained for abseiling from bridges around Munich on Tuesday (September 7), which is this year hosting the IAA, the first major motor industry event worldwide since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The nine activists were kept imprisoned until Sunday as a 'preventive detention', the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation reported.
