Sharjah 24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has had his plays translated into English by Al Qasimi Publications (AQP), as a sequel of the translations of His Highness's works, which began with the translation of "The Return of Hulagu," the first of His Highness's dramatic plays.

The house aims to present authentic theatrical literature to readers in Europe and around the world, since the translation of plays has received little attention in Arab theatre forums and festivals.

The house explained that the translation of the Ruler of Sharjah's plays reveals the artistic and aesthetic values of Arab drama and aids in the correction of some concepts that are prevalent in the Arab drama, especially since His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah's writings deal with the present from the perspective of Arab-Islamic history and the tales derived from it.

Professor Peter Barlow, who will direct “Nimrod,” one of His Highness's first plays in both English and Arabic, which will be performed at the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy in February next year, believes it is critical that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi's plays be translated into as many languages as possible. He stated, “The translation into English will allow for more theatrical performances to be presented around the world. His Highness is a renowned playwright and his writings reflect his extensive knowledge of the Arab and world history. His Highness’s description and storytelling style flow effortlessly so that the audience can grasp the deep significance of his work and highlight the messages channeled through the senses with the influences of performative music and expression.”

Dr. Jawad Al Asadi, Iraqi theatre director, said, "With the uniqueness and professionalism of His Highness throughout the world I haven't heard or read about a man who has been able to write human lives."

His Highness draws upon historical sources to create inspiring works of truth and justice and enlightens the paths of people who are suffering,” he continued.

Al Qasimi publications highlighted that  His Highness’s works translation into several languages creates a perfect method of communication with human cultures globally and permits filmmakers from all over Europe and the world to transmit renewed meaning and convey new messages to different audiences.
