Sharjah24 – WAM: The FNC Social, Labour, Population and Human Resources Affairs Committee discussed a federal draft law related to the elderly, during its meeting at the headquarters of the FNC General Secretariat in Dubai, chaired by Hamad Ahmed Al Rahoumi, Chairman of the Committee.
Al Rahoumi said that the committee reviewed related articles and social and legal studies prepared by the FNC General Secretariat, and discussed its plan to review the draft law, which stipulates holding meetings with relevant authorities and representatives of the Ministry of Community Development.

He also pointed out that the committee will invite authorities to discuss the impact of the law and explore their successful experiences in providing services for the elderly, while stressing the importance of the law, which aims to care for elderly people.

Al Rahoumi noted that the law also seeks to ensure that the elderly enjoy their basic rights and freedoms, as stated by the Constitution and legislation, and provide all services and information related to their rights, as well as to enable them to participate in the community and contribute to the creation of policies related to them.

The draft law has 23 articles, which include definitions of relevant words and phrases, their objectives, and the right to independence, privacy, protection, employment, education, social and health care, as well as the confidentiality of information, preferential treatment and proof of age.
