Sharjah 24 – WAM: Members of the New Zealand Olympic team participating in the ongoing Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 Saturday visited Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the UAE capital, accompanied by their families and Ambassador Matthew Hawkins.
The visit was meant to express full solidarity with the families of the victims of the Friday's mass shooting at two mosques in New Zealand, which left scores of people dead and injured.

The team articulated the cultural commonalities shared by the UAE and New Zealand with regards to the promotion of tolerance and denunciation of religious hatred and grudges.

They accentuated their categorical rejection of all acts stoking religious animosity, and reiterated their country's support for the values of inclusion, tolerance and peaceful-existence.

At the end of their visit, the athletes expressed sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery to the injured.
