During the meeting, they discussed fraternal relations and ways to strengthen them, and tackled the latest regional and international developments.
At the outset, while welcoming Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and his accompanying delegation, King Salman expressed satisfaction at the level of the co-operation between the two countries.
The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince expressed his satisfaction at visiting Saudi Arabia and meeting with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. He conveyed to King Salman the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his best wishes to the Saudi leadership, and more progress and prosperity to the people of Saudi Arabia.
King Salman asked Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed to convey his greetings to the UAE President, wishing him good health, and more progress to the people of the UAE.
They discussed relations and outstanding efforts of the two countries to strengthen their strategic co-operation on overall issues affecting the security and stability of the region, with emphasis on ensuring their common interests and enhancing the efforts of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States (GCC), and safeguarding Arab rights.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed stressed the depth of fraternal ties between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, referring to the strength of co-operation and solidarity against the challenges experienced by the region. He also spoke of their shared vision to achieve security and stability, and to confront the dangers posed by the terrorism and extremism.
He commended King Salman for ensuring the best interests of the GCC and for backing Arab and Islamic issues.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi underlined that Saudi Arabia, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, represents the main pillar in maintaining the security and stability of the region. "Saudi Arabia is a safety valve, given its continued efforts to defend the Arab interests and its commitment to the cohesion and unity," he added.
King Salman hosted a banquet in honor of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and his accompanying delegation. It was attended by Their Royal Highnesses, the Saudi Princes, ministers and senior official.
Meanwhile on the UAE side, the event was attended by Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiritisation; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, and many other dignitaries.
From the UAE delegation, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser; and H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, attended the meeting.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and the accompanying delegation left Riyadh, where they were seen off by the Saudi Deputy Crown Prince.
