ZU receives diplomats to strengthen academic relations

Sharjah24: His Excellency Prof. Reyadh Al Mehaideb, Vice-President of Zayed University (ZU) received Mogobo David Magabe, South African Consul General to Dubai and Northern Emirates in UAE recently at the Dubai Campus.
Both tackled educational matters in both countries and discussed future collaboration with key universities in South Africa for student exchange and other academic programs. They introduced possible collaborations in continuous learning and training programs.

Al Mehaideb offered an overview of Zayed University’s programs and activities in community engagement. He introduced the university’s efforts in students support in education, culture, innovation and entrepreneurship. The Consul General gave a brief introduction about the South African universities and the Consulate’s mission in the UAE.

On a separate note, His Excellency Ernst Peter Fischer, German Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates has recently lectured students from the College of Natural and Health Sciences (CNHS) at Zayed University Campus in Abu Dhabi.

Fischer was received by Dr. Fares Howari, Dean of the CNHS, and several faculty members. His Excellency initiated his lecture describing the similarities between both nations Germany and UAE and emphasised that both have similar outlook to the world challenges.

His remarks also highlighted the importance of the climate change negotiation and environmental diplomacy in dealing with some of the grand issues that our world is facing, such as global warming.

The interactions between Ernst Peter Fischer and the students demonstrated the range of academic and research opportunities that are available to Zayed University students in Germany.

“At Zayed University we encourage and support these lectures, which complement students class experiences and expose them to leaders and professionals from various fields,” Howari said.
