UoS, Maraya Art Centre launch (Be) Longin Exhibition

Sharjah 24: The College of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Sharjah (UoS) organised an art exhibition to showcase the work of five students who recently graduated from the College in collaboration with Maraya Art Centre. The (Be)Longing Art Exhibition addressed various issues of home, domesticity, place and identity which are particularly prevalent themes in the lives of these graduates.
His Excellency Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, Executive Chairman of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), attended the opening ceremony along with Dr. Nadia M. Alhasani, Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Design, and Tor Seidel as well as Shaikha Rashid Al Mazrou lecturers at the College and supervisors of the Exhibition.

During the exhibition, 20 works of art including sculptures, paintings, prints, photography and videography, which were all completed as part of the graduation project of the students at the College's laboratories. All of the works also shared the theme of belonging.

During the ceremony, Dr. Nadia Alhasani praised the exhibited works and stressed that the exhibition includes a group of artists from different nationalities with multiple cultural backgrounds, brought together by their studies and their passion for art under the domes of the University of Sharjah. She added that the College aims to support the arts and design movement in the Emirate of Sharjah in particular, and the UAE in general by encouraging students and graduates to interact and share their passion while presenting their ideas and creations while playing an integral role in their communities.

Commenting on the Exhibition, Fatma Al Mahmoud from Maraya Art Centre added that one of the most important objectives of the Centre is to support and develop emerging artists. In this context, they hosted an Exhibition in collaboration with one of most important prominent art colleges in the UAE.
