ECU visits UoS to exchange expertise & execute joint scientific research programs and projects

Sharjah24: Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of University of Sharjah, received a delegation from East California University to enhance the joint cooperation between both parties in terms of scientific, research, and training fields, student exchange, knowledge sharing, encouragement of students and faculty members to engage in scientific inquiry, and discussion of potential joint research programs and projects.
The delegation comprised of: Prof. Jon Rezek, Executive Director – Office of Global Affairs, Prof. Linda Godbold Kean, Director - School of Communication and professor at College of Fine Arts and Communication, Prof. Kate Bukoski, Director School of Art and Design, Dr. J. Christopher Buddo, Dean of College of Fine Arts and Communication, and Dr. Matthew J. Egan, Associate Professor at School of Art and Design. Received the delegation: Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, Prof. AbdulSahib Mehdi Ali, Acting Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Design, Prof. Essam Nasr Selim, Acting Dean of the College of Communication, and Mohammed Mualej, College of Engineering.

UoS Chancellor opened the meeting with an overview of the role and position of the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, noting that it is now one of the largest universities in the State, in terms of students and programs it offers. UoS also has five branches, each of which will become an independent university, added the Chancellor. He also noted the training centers and research institutes and clinics that were established in UoS, which reflect the best practices in the local and regional community.

The delegation then toured the colleges, institutes and laboratories in the university. UoS faculty members also met with ECU delegation in a number of colleges to look into possible cooperation between the parties and setting up plans for the upcoming stage.
