Al Ain International Jiu-Jitsu Championship kicks off today

Sharjah 24 – WAM: Al Ain International Jiu-jitsu Championship kicks off today at the Emirates University Hall, which will be held on two weekends, on Friday and Saturday of each week.Today and tomorrow’s competitions will be dedicated to young players under the age of 18 years old, while adults will participate in next week's competitions.

The tournament takes place under the name of the International Al Ain professional championship, and is supervised by the management of a few international referees led by the Brazilian Alex Baz, Chairman of the International and Asian Referees Committee.

The Organising Committee announced that today’s matches will be allocated to girls under 18 years old. Tomorrow's youth will also be under 18 years old. The tournament, which is held every year, will witness a large number of players in different categories and belts, and will gain added value through the participation of UAE world champions who won medals at Montenegro, Turkmenistan, Asian and World Championships last month.

Al Ain Championship confirms the commitment of the UAE to organise and host the best international tournaments in Jiu-jitsu, and to improve the development of this sport in the country building Abu Dhabi as the capital of the Jiu-jitsu World, and the city of Al Ain has a large proportion of distinguished players taking part across all titles, categories and weights.

Speaking on the occasion, Yousuf Al Balooshi, Director of the Technical Department, UAE Jiu-jitsu Federation, said, "Al Ain Championship is a key part of the local championships calendar for the current season and these local championships are all linked to other competitions, in the sense that they equip our players for various stages of international competitions, whether continental or international."
