“Shams” to support the 7th edition of the ASBU Broadcast Pro ME Selevision Summit and Awards 2017

Sharjah24: Sharjah Media City (Shams), an innovative free zone hub for specialised facilities in creative and media industries, were one of the key sponsors and partners for the 7th edition of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) BroadcastPro ME Summit and Awards which took place at the Grand Habtoor Resort Autograph, on November 14, 2017,
The annual summit sought to encourage and celebrate distinguished individuals in the broadcast and satellite industry throughout the MENA region, and featured exclusive networking prospects, seminars, and awards by key industry and government leaders. This year’s event included four panels, twenty-five speakers, sixteen awards, and one gala dinner. 
Shihab Al Hammadi, Director of Shams, presented two awards on stage: the first for Best Short Production Award 2017 which went to Electric Films & Mubadala Investment Company’s “Untold Stories.” The second award was for Best Long Production 2017 which went to Nomad Productions for “Fighting Fit Dubai.”
Shams had an exhibition stand at the event available for attendants to learn more about their prospects. In addition, Shams sponsored the organisation of a raffle and provide gifts for the winners.
Mr Shihab Al Hammadi, Director of Sharjah Media City (Shams), conveyed, “We are here to sponsor this event because we are very much involved in technology and infrastructure at Shams. As a media city, we want to create partnerships and build long-term relationships with various broadcasting sectors. The community here is what we’re looking for to further innovate Shams.”
He added, “We at Shams want to be amongst the first in the UAE to use Blockchain technology and build our infrastructure on top of that. We aim to build a city with a focus on technology. Blockchain supports the focus of technology, and Shams wants to be the first to implement Blockchain into media.”
Al Hammadi, concluded by reiterating that Shams strives for the objective of overall excellence and success by providing ground-breaking, smart, and community-oriented services that inspire young talents and entrepreneurs. 
The summit included exclusive networking prospects, seminars, and awards, in addition to hosting four panels, twenty-five speakers, sixteen awards, and a gala dinner, with over 300 delegates participating. The awards opened with a welcome speech by Vijaya Cherian, Editorial Director of CPI Trade Media who formally thanked Shams for their sponsorship this year.
A series of panels took place during the event which covered a variety of broadcasting topics. The discussion panels explored topics titled: Cross-Cultural Viewership Trends and Identifying Successful Global Distribution Patterns, Internet Video as The New Normal, and The Tech Revolution and How to Tackle New Challenges in The Broadcast Workplace. 
Furthermore, a CEO panel took place on: How the Pace of Change in The Media Will Impact Business Strategies for The Next Three Years. Prominent speakers included: Sam Barnett, Chief Executive Officer of Middle East Broadcasting Center Group (MBC); Samer Geissah, Vice President of Innovation at Du; Martin Stewart, Chief Executive Officer of Orbit Showtime Network (OSN); and Sanjay Raina, General Manager and Senior Vice President of FOX Networks Group.
