Sultan bin Ahmed inaugurates Sharjah Stamp Exhibition at Mega Mall

Sharjah 24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC), inaugurated on Tuesday the Sharjah 7th Stamp Exhibition, organised by the UAE Amateur Stamp Association in cooperation with Mega Mall, Sharjah. This year, 17 countries from around the world are participating in this stamps and coins exhibition.

The exhibition will be held from 14 to 18 November 2017, at the Mega Mall. Abdullah Khoury, Chairman of the Emirates Stamp Association, and a large number of collectors, and specialised dealers in this field, and representatives of the media participated in the inauguration ceremony.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi said, that the Sharjah Stamps Exhibition is an important cultural and artistic platform for those viewers to realise the historical value of stamps, which chronicle various events at different periods, and review the chronology of major events in the history of the world.

Sheikh Ahmed added, the exhibition enhances Sharjah’s position in organising and hosting prestigious exhibitions and attracting visitors and experts.     

The exhibition, which has become one of the most important exhibitions in the region, combines collectors of stamps, coins from the United Arab Emirates and abroad, as well as dealers selling stamps, coins and accessories, and collectors of rare and precious items.

 The exhibition includes 120 displays, divided into 46 different topics, according to the interests of the exhibitors and the quality of their exhibits.

The exhibition will be accompanied by many events, including "Iraqi stamps cover" Save Palestine: 1948-1951, "and public auction on a number of stamps and rare coins.

The Sharjah Stamps Exhibition contains large collections of distinctive stamps, some over 100 years old, in addition to rare stamps that have very limited copies, as well as collections from certain geographical areas, such as the UAE, the GCC, and Arab countries.

A selection of international arbitrators, coordinators and experts who are visiting the Emirate of Sharjah will participate in the Judging work of the exhibition, valuing the collections of stamps offered for sale, and events for children to encourage them to start collecting stamps.
