Sharjah Municipality to be ready for rainy season

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Municipality (SM) has announced the emirate’s readiness for the rainy season, through developing an integrated plan to deal quickly with the risks of gathering rainwater and to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the city, achieving the highest level of comfort and safety for citizens and residents in Sharjah.

Thabet Al Tarifi, the Director-General of Sharjah Municipality and chairman of the Higher Rain Emergency Committee, said that the SM has worked hard and has taken measures and preparations for any emergency in any region in the emirate to preserve the civilized form of the society. He further pointed out that the SM has implemented several preventive maintenance for the rainwater drainage systems, pumps, and devices of water withdrawals . 

He praised the efforts of the sub-committees of the Higher Rain Emergency Committee during the past year and the success they had achieved, stressing that the Municipality is keen to ensure the safety of the workers through several measures.

Al Tarifi called on all the public to follow the instructions of the competent authorities and use alternative roads to avoid accidents and ensure safety. He appealed to the public to call the number "993" to report urgent incidents and emergency situations.
