  • Lubna Al Qasimi: The sky is the limit anymore for Emirati women
Sharjah24: The “Women in Technology” forum, organised by the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Complex in cooperation with the “Women In Tech” Foundation, has been launched on Tuesday.
The opening day had a great attendance and participation of prominent figures such as global science organisations, women's empowerment organisations and women entrepreneurs, as well as the directors of Government Authorities and representatives from civil society.

Sharjah24 spoke with Sheikha Dr. Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, first female Ministerial post in the UAE, on the sidelines of the forum as she noted that all the successes Emirati women have been achieving can be attributed to the faith and support of the UAE wise leadership in women and their capabilities, especially supporting female education.

She added that UAE laws protects women and grants them their rightful status, be it in pay equality or employment and career advancement opportunities.

Another UAE landmark is ensuring that women to have 50% representation in UAE Federal National Council, she stressed.

Reflecting on her personal experience, Al Qasimi noted that she was the first female Minister in 2004. She then compared that figure to the current nine female ministers having 29% of the cabinet as a strong testimony of the leadership focus on the importance of women participation in all sectors of life.

“I don’t believe that ‘The sky is the limit’ anymore, as females have conquered the space as well as all domains of life,” she concluded.
