Sharjah 24: Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, Chairman of Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH), said in a statement regarding UNESCO’s granting the SIH category 2 status under its auspices, that the support of the wise leadership for heritage and its components has contributed to this achievement.
“We are delighted with this new national achievement, which is a new feather in the cap of achievements of the UAE in general, and Sharjah in particular, in the areas of intangible cultural heritage, not only at the local and Arab levels, but also at the international level. The SIH occupies an international and prestigious position thanks to its efforts in the area of the human heritage,” Al Musallam added.

He continued: “With this achievement of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, which has made great successes in the preservation, safeguarding and protection of heritage, and transmitting it to generations, we extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to our wise leadership, who patronises heritage in all its colors, manifestations, elements and components, since the time of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, an approach that is continued by our prudent leadership.”

Al Musallam concluded: "Without the continuous support and constant care and great efforts of the patron of culture and knowledge, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, we would not have made all these achievements in the world of culture and heritage."
