Dibba Al Hisn Municipality opens first phase of ‘Palm Oasis’

Sharjah 24: As part of its 39th afforestation week, the Municipality of Dibba Al Hisn opened the first phase of the Palm Oasis project on Al Hisn Island, located opposite the city's waterway.
The opening ceremony was attended by Ahmed Sultan, Vice Chairman of Dibba Al Hisn Municipal Council; Matar Ahmed Al Kharshi, Director of the Emiri Diwan of Dibba Al Hisn City; Taleb Abdullah Safar, Director of the Municipality; a host of officials and representatives of government departments, municipality staff and citizens.

Dr. Abdullah Safar said that the project is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and His Highness’ keenness to develop the Island and add new service and recreational spaces to meet the needs of both citizens and visitors.

He added that the first phase includes about 200 palm trees stretching along the waterway in the city.

He pointed out that the next phases of the project will include expansion of green areas in the vicinity of the Palm Oasis, on a total area of more than 30 thousand square meters.

For his part, Matar Al Khashri said that the project, which was implemented by the municipality under the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, is an important addition to both the island and the city.

Al Khashri added that the project will have a great positive impact on the environmental and tourism, especially in light of its proximity to the main landmarks of Dibba Al Hisn, such as the waterway, the Corniche area and the public beaches.
