Sharjah 24: The Ministry of Community Development (MoCD) will organise several awareness and cultural workshops during the activities of the National Bullying Prevention Week at Schools, held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood between 18-22 November 2019 and the participation of more than 25 local and federal entities coinciding with the World Children’s Day.
The purpose of this event is to provide students, teachers and parents with the needed skills to avoid bullying that target students of all ages and schools.

In this regard, Excellency Nasser Isamil, Assistant Undersecretary of Social Welfare at the Ministry of Community Development, emphasized that the participation of the National Bullying Prevention Week coincides with the ministry’s societal and development commitment and embody the active partnership between different entities to support all implemented awareness and educational activities in order to achieve positive upbringing and establish the stability of families and communities. As such, the ministry’s plans and initiatives protect generations, enhance self-confidence and resilience, boost positive relations among students within the school walls and in neighborhoods at the family and community levels.

His Excellency also emphasised that the ministry’s efforts target all the different categories of the community especially younger generations, adolescents and people of determination, since they represent a sustainable priority in education and awareness to raise responsible future generation towards developmental goals that achieve the visions and ambitions of the wise leadership.

Furthermore, Eman Hareb Al Falsi, Director of Social Protection Department at the Ministry of Community Development, stated that the cultural programs of the Ministry target school students, children, youth and adolescents as well as educational staff through activities that promote positive friendship and good companionship. It also warns parents against unacceptable risks and behaviors, introduces the community members with societal customs and traditions and encourages parents to be involved in their children’s daily lives and conditions.

Through the membership of the Ministry of Community Development in the National Committee of Bullying and training committee of the campaign, various awareness workshops and lectures will be organized to target high school students in Sharjah American School at Um Al Qiwain, Dibba Al Fujairah People of Determination Center, for academic staff and parents of people of determination. Other training workshops will also target a number of schools, parents and educational staff in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah. The Ministry of Community Development, in cooperation with TRA, will also organize several interactive awareness activities through the initiative “I do not accept” aimed at raising awareness about cyber bullying to be implemented in several schools all over the UAE.

It is noted that the Ministry of Education has identified a series of targeted media messages that will enhance the success of the National Week to prevent bullying in the school environment, based on strengthening the child's personality, strengthening their self-confidence, supporting their abilities to be self-reliant, as well as ways to confront bullying, reporting and responding to it if it occurs in the school environment.
