Sharjah24 – Reuters: The Turkish lira weakened to more than 4.62 against the dollar in early trade on Wednesday, down 0.5 percent and extending losses from late trade on Tuesday.
The lira has been weighed down by investor concerns about political influence over central bank's monetary policy and uncertainty ahead of June 24 elections, and has fallen around 17 percent against the dollar this year.
At 0613 GMT, the lira <TRYTOM=D3> stood at 4.6220 against the U.S. currency, 0.5 percent lower than Tuesday's close of 4.5950.
