SBA attracts European publishers to invest in Sharjah

Sharjah 24: To enhance its international presence in the publishing sector, the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) continues to participate in the 64th edition of the Frankfurt International Book Fair in Germany, being held from 11-15 October, attracting about 7,000 exhibitors from more than 100 Country.
The participation came just a few months after the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) awarded Sharjah with the title of "World Book Capital of 2019" to increase the importance of SBA’s presence at this world's largest exhibition.

Moreover, the SBA benefited from the opportunity of celebrating France as guest of honour at the exhibition to interact with participants; the French Ministry of Culture delegated more than 130 authors, thought leaders and prominent media persons to augment its presence in Frankfurt in addition to representatives of dozens of publishers, cultural institutions and publishers' associations in France.

Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of SBA stressed the important role  of book fairs in developing channels of cooperation between specialists in the publishing sector and enabling them to work together to improve their profession making it a way to learn about other cultures in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to empower the human and invest in him intellectually and culturally.

Al Ameri noted that the SBA pavilion at Frankfurt Book Fair this year focused on promoting Sharjah Publishing City (SPC), the first exclusive free zone for printing and publishing in the world which will open its first phase at the end of this month attracting a large number of leading international publishing houses endeavouring to have presence in the region to expand regionally.
