Sharjah 24: Sharjah Archaeology Museum Curator, Alia Obaid Al Khayyal, announced the inauguration of the "Dayr al-Madinah" exhibition. This is Sharjah's first museum that represents the interest of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah in preserving archaeological treasures.
Aimed at children under the age of 12, the exhibition was inaugurated in cooperation with the Museo Egizio (Egyptian Museum) in Turin, Italy.
Al Khayyal told “Sharjah 24” that returning to normal life, the reintroduction of museum tourism, and the revival of schools' visits will all help to enhance the number of visitors to the exhibition.
The exhibition "Dayr al-Madinah" is divided into five stages: the child first assumes the role of an archaeologist in order to discover archaeological artifacts, then learns about the critical role of workers in the construction of tombs and royal burials, as well as the significance of coffins in Old Egyptian Civilization. Finally, the child learns about hieroglyphic language and the costumes of the pharaohs, and also the vital function of restoration scientists in the preservation of antiquities.
