Sharjah 24: This Emirate has chosen to stand by the victims of conflicts, wars, disasters and poverty, and to always to be by the oppressed, whose rights are violated.
Some may ask: what is the benefit of improving the conditions of refugees and displaced persons while wars and conflicts continue to displace more people every day. We say that wars and violence that endanger the lives of innocent people are undoubtedly condemned, but these wars have never ended throughout history, and they will not end. However, our duty is to mitigate their consequences and repercussions, through actions, benefiting innocent victims and providing them a decent life,” His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the winner of the fourth edition of Sharjah International Award for Refugee Advocacy and Support August 2020.

His Highness’s words came while addressing world leaders working in the field of advocacy and support for refugees. He declares the clear Sharjah programme and humanitarian strategy. Sharjah will be a real addition to stop the suffering of victims whose daily lives are affected by conflicts and wars. As normal people, their lives are affected by different reasons, natural disasters, poverty, while rights are lost. This strategy is what makes Sharjah a special place where humanity prevails.

During his speech, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah answers an important question, which may be one of the reasons for the exacerbation of the problems of these people in various countries and societies. The question that is related to humanitarian efforts in support of refugees and displaced persons is a motive for others to discontinue efforts, support and assistance.

Answering this question, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah presents a different vision, and an answer that calls for help, and opens multiple doors towards humanitarian aid, which contributes to solving the problems of these displaced people and refugees in various parts of the world.

The answer is based on convincing proofs and evidence, with one goal to continue humanitarian efforts, cooperation, compassion and solidarity, even though wars have not ended in human history, and will not end, and there is no guarantee that they will. On the contrary, these disasters are condemned. These disasters turn the stable lives of individuals into displacement and migration; hence, the person bears the title of a refugee, who needs continuous assistance, and support of his fellow human being.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah says that the humanitarian stance of the emirate with the victims of wars is a natural stance, aimed at contributing to the care of these victims, unleashing the energies of volunteers in the society, as well as various institutions around the world, to play an important role in addressing the reasons, so they can return to their normal societies and to a decent life.

Sharjah persevering benevolent insight, proves to the world, day after day, that the real humanitarian programme is its path, and that humanitarian efforts will not stop, all for the good of man, from Sharjah and to the whole world.
