Sharjah 24: Sharjah Sports Council announced the opening of registration for the third edition of the running race, starting on Saturday January 16, 2021, in cooperation with the Al Qudra Sports Management and with the participation of various groups of society and age groups.

The race aims to encourage sport and make it a lifestyle for everyone in the community, and maintain public health with observance of all preventive and precautionary measures.

The competition covers three distances: 2.5 km, 5 km, and 10 km, and targets at least 500 competitors from both genders. Competitors can register via http://www.eevents.ae/ shjrun no later than Wednesday 10th February 2021.

Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council said: “On Friday, February 12th, the first running races will be launched in the University City of Sharjah as part of a series of community races for this season with the aim of spreading the culture of sports and urging the various groups of society to participate according to the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, and the follow-up of Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, in support of sports and athletes.”

He added that the first three winners will get gold, silver and bronze medals, while each participant will receive a participation medal and an electronic certificate.
