Sharjah Ruler inspects progress of construction of Al Dhaid Fort

Sharjah24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah inspected on Wednesday morning, the progress of the construction and restoration work of the historic Al Dhaid Fort in Al-Sharia area, which dates back more than two centuries. His Highness directed to expand the project, to revive the region, and to complete the project within a year.
Upon arrival, His Highness was welcomed by His Excellency Engineer Salah Bin Butti Al Muhairi, Adviser to the Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey (SDTPS), in the presence of a number of notables in Al Dhaid region.



His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah listened to a detailed explanation from Bin Butti about the project of the restoration and construction of the Fort, and his Highness viewed a set of photographs that document the Fort’s building during different periods of time and from different angles, showing what it was in the past.

His Excellency Engineer Salah Bin Butti Al Muhairi briefed the His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah on the detailed explanation of the Fort’s building, highlighting the significant importance of its developmental stages during different periods of time.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the attendees watched a documentary film that reviewed the stages of the Fort’s construction and its history, underscoring its political and security importance.



His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah was also briefed by His Excellency Engineer Salah Bin Butti Al Muhairi on some of the development plans of the area surrounding the Fort. Then His Highness directed the expansion of the project with reviving the region to include a large square for celebrations, the restoration of Al-Sharia Mosque, the revival of the falaj and farms, and to supplement the area with a folklore market and a popular majlis, as well as a wildlife museum and personal museums, aiming to highlight the remarkable importance of the region, turning it into a heritage and social tourism destination. His Highness stressed that the project should be completed within a year from today.
