MWL condemns Qatari media for insulting Muslim scholars

Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Muslim World League, MWL, has issued a statement condemning the Qatari media campaign of incitement against its religious scholars.

In a statement issued, on Monday, the Muslim World League condemned Qatari media outlets for making 'insulting' comments about some of the organisation's Muslim scholars. 

The statement said that the Secretariat of the MWL deplored the audacity of insults against the nation's top scholars, asserting that the media apparatus "is being used to serve extremism, which can result in toxic actions against Islam." 

The MWL has previously expressed its full support for the severance of relations by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt with Qatar, saying, "The severance of relations with Qatar is in accordance to the Islamic, legal and logical necessity towards Qatari practices." 

It also issued a statement declaring its full support for the list of prohibited terrorists issued by Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE and Bahrain. 

Based on the classifications issued, the league has cancelled Yusuf Qaradawi's membership with the "Islamic Fiqh Council".
