Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Finance Department announced the launch of a new and developed version of the digital Tahseel card, which features a number of advanced technical and security features, which enable companies and individuals dealing with government agencies in Sharjah to conduct their financial transactions and pay and collect fees in a smooth and secure manner.
Consolidating digital financial systems
In this regard, Huda Al Yasi, Director of the Financial System Department at the Sharjah Finance Department, said: “The department, with the aim of consolidating its financial leadership, seeks to continue its efforts to consolidate smart transformation initiatives, implement advanced digital systems, and expand in facilitating and ensuring the smoothness of financial procedures related to its digital services provided to institutions in both sectors, government and private sectors, and achieving digital connectivity and integration between them, in accordance with financial excellence standards, comprehensive quality specifications and standards, financial governance requirements, and risk management policies.”

Advanced technical and security features
She explained that the new digital (Tahseel) card, which currently pays transactions for more than 100 government and private entities in Sharjah, is considered an updated chip that has advanced security and technical features that are consistent with the financial controls and laws approved in the emirate, and it is supported by the latest technology in the world of electronic chips, pointing out that this card is unique in a number of technical and security features, as it is equipped with an advanced virtual processor that increases the speed of executing various commands, while supporting it with the non-cloning feature in order to ensure its advanced security properties. This card also supports the biometric matching feature, which provides the highest levels of security and protection. The card can also accommodate a larger memory size, enabling it to download and run multiple applications according to the customer’s desire, in addition to enjoying high security specifications through the ultraviolet layer that helps prevent fraud and counterfeiting.

Additional supporting features
Regarding the additional advantages of the card, the (Tahseel) card is distinguished by the fact that it is issued and used with a lifetime validity and without any annual renewal fees. It is characterised by absolute flexibility in controlling debit operations, and can be easily managed through the Tahseel portal and the smart application, while supporting the contactless payment feature.

It is noteworthy that the (Tahseel) system in the emirate was launched for the first time in 2007 under the directives of the Emirate’s Executive Council with the aim of providing a modern electronic method for collecting local fees in government departments through the smart receipt system and ensuring that the prescribed fees are collected and paid on all transactions electronically to serve customers and facilitate procedures. The fees were paid, and the first transaction was actually completed through the system on August 6, 2007 by one of the auditors for the Department of Planning and Survey in Sharjah.

In 2008, companies began obtaining collection cards with the ability to charge them through Sharjah Islamic Bank. Then the process of charging cards developed in 2014 through the issuance of truck cards that enabled beneficiaries to complete cash payments at external gates, while stopping the previously used coupon book and adopting An electronic card instead in order to facilitate the payment process.
