Sharjah24: For the second consecutive year, the documentary film " Sir Bu Nu'ayr - Nature's Haven," produced by Sharjah Broadcasting Authority in collaboration with the Sharjah Government Media Bureau and the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah, has won the Excellence Award in the Humanitarian Content category at the prestigious Accolade Global Film Competition in the United States. The film was recognised for its humanitarian value, alongside its exceptional craftsmanship and rich content. Last year, it also won the Excellence Award for Best Long Documentary Film at the same festival.
Established in 2003, the Accolade Competition, held in San Diego, California, is the world's first and largest online competition, honouring leading production companies and promising industry professionals worldwide who achieve exceptional feats in producing high-quality films and contribute to unprecedented social change.

This seventh award for " Sir Bu Nu'ayr - Nature's Haven" since its premiere last year adds to its growing list of accolades, which include the Golden Award for Best Long Documentary Film at the Florence Film Festival, Best Cinematography Award at the Abu Dhabi International Independent Film Festival, Audience Choice Award for Best Nature Documentary at the Los Angeles Documentary Film Festival, Best Nature and Environment Film Award at the Sharjah Independent Film Festival, and Best Long Documentary Film Award at the Saudi Arabia Independent Film Festival, in addition to two awards from the Accolade Global Film Competition in the United States.

Expressing his delight at the film's fourth international accolade, His Excellency Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, emphasised its global recognition by prominent festivals worldwide. He described it as a new global achievement for the documentary production, a field emphasised by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to focus on achieving sustainable development in the field of environment and wildlife, and to highlight Sharjah's global message across various fields.

He added that " Sir Bu Nu'ayr - Nature's Haven," presented in four parts, portrays the life cycle of living organisms on Sir Bu Nu’ayr Island and its sea, combining environmental vision, high-quality artistic photography, and creative direction. The documentary unveils the secrets of the unique natural reserve, which serves as a safe haven for living organisms, including those threatened with extinction.

The documentary, produced in collaboration with the Sharjah Government Media Bureau and the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah, includes interviews with a group of specialists and experts in marine biology within the reserve, particularly Emirati women who spared no effort in exploring the enchanting nature of Sir Bu Nu’ayr Island and nurturing the living organisms it harbors. The filming hours reached approximately 1000 hours on the island, its beaches, and in the city of Sharjah, resulting in a documentary work produced according to international standards in the field of documentary production and direction.

The documentary " Sir Bu Nu'ayr - Nature's Haven" was produced by a large team of over sixty people, including His Excellency Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, as the executive producer, and British filmmaker John Martin as the director. The documentary production was overseen by artistic producer Ashraf Ali and Tony Dejan, while the artistic creativity in the shots was managed by cinematographers Michael O'Donovan and Russ Bartley, with Kevin Smith specialising in underwater photography.
