SCLD to explore latest advancements and insights into dyslexia

Sharjah24: The Sharjah Center for Learning Difficulties is partnering with the Sharjah Education Academy to organise a symposium on "Dyslexia" on May 4th, coinciding with the Gulf Day for Learning Difficulties. The seminar will feature several experts and specialists who will discuss the latest practices in diagnosing and treating dyslexia and present positive examples of individuals who have overcome reading difficulties.
The symposium's powerful theme is "Together We Overcome Dyslexia," underscoring the collaborative efforts required to address dyslexia and its challenges. The symposium will consist of three dialogue sessions that will take place in-person and remotely via video communication. The symposium's target audience is education and learning difficulties specialists, teachers, parents, and community members, aiming to raise awareness of dyslexia and how to overcome it.

The experts participating in the symposium will present the latest therapeutic practices and programs in learning difficulties and overcoming the challenges faced by people with dyslexia. Dr. Hanadi Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Center for Learning Difficulties, confirmed that the symposium is part of the Center's mission to disseminate knowledge about dyslexia, which is one of the most common learning difficulties, and enhance parents' understanding of treatment methods and practices. Experts and specialists have proven that progress in treating dyslexia is possible by following the latest guidelines and treatment methods in cooperation with special education officials and parents.

Dr Hanadi Al Suwaidi indicated that the centre is committed to educating specialists in education and learning difficulties, teachers, and parents on how to deal with students facing dyslexia. She invited interested parties to attend the symposium and benefit from the scientific data presented by the participating experts, which aims to bring about tangible changes in treating dyslexia. The symposium includes three dialogue sessions, each with experts and specialists participating. 

The first session will address the importance of early detection and diagnosis of dyslexia as well as therapeutic strategies for dyslexia. The second session will discuss the Sharjah Center for Learning Difficulties' experience in treating dyslexia, while the third session will showcase the effectiveness of the Arab Reading Challenge. Additionally, a success story in overcoming the difficulties of dyslexia will be presented.

Since its establishment in 2016, the centre has received various segments of society of all ages and nationalities who face learning difficulties and provided them with a package of services and support. The centre has served around 1,000 people and is committed to strengthening cooperation with various local, Arab, and international centres and associations to achieve the best results through its programs and the employment of an integrated set of activities and events to spread awareness and scientific knowledge of learning difficulties.
