Sharjah24: The Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW), in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Affairs, organised yesterday morning a lecture titled "Zakat in the Prophetic Tradition."
The lecture, delivered by researcher Dr. Salem Mohammed Al-Doubi Al-Mazmi, was held at the main department headquarters in Al Nasiriyah.

A significant number of employees attended the lecture, where the researcher answered various inquiries and distributed worksheets to foster engagement and active involvement throughout the session.

He emphasised the significance of Zakat as an essential component of Islam, being one of the five pillars that all Muslims must uphold.

It is crucial to carefully consider all factors, understanding its obligatory nature, calculate it accurately, and know where it should be distributed.

He recently provided valuable insights into the proper method of paying Zakat on gold and silver, a topic that is frequently misunderstood by many women. Based on the given explanation, if the weight of gold is over 85 grammes of 24-carat gold and a full year has passed since acquiring it, then the Zakat obligation is 2.5%, which is a quarter of one-tenth. In the case of silver, when it reaches a certain weight of 595 grammes and a full lunar year has passed since acquiring it, the Zakat obligation remains at 2.5%, which is a quarter of one-tenth.
