Sharjah Police: Mitigating Recent Weather Impact

Sharjah24: The Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Team at the Sharjah Police General Directorate highlighted the successful collaboration among various specialised entities and strategic partners in effectively handling the recent weather conditions in the country.

The measures taken involved a set of operations to quickly address the current low-pressure system in order to reduce the impact of material and human losses. 1,096 police personnel, 473 vehicles, and patrols were deployed on internal and external roads to boost community security, manage emergencies, and maintain smooth traffic flow, particularly on roads impacted by rainwater accumulation. Moreover, 202 individuals have been accommodated and given prompt social support and aid to secure temporary housing stability.

The security team in the operations room was prepared to efficiently handle and respond to all reports and communications before, during, and after the weather disturbance. They promptly addressed all questions and offered extensive help and guidance to individuals in various languages such as Arabic, English, and Urdu. 

The operations room managed a combined total of 24,166 calls via the 999 and 901 call centres. In particular, the 999 call centre efficiently handled 19,287 calls, while the 901 call centre handled 4,879 calls.

The Media and Public Relations Department disseminated educational and guidance messages through a variety of visual, print, and audio media channels, along with social media platforms, to boost public awareness and accomplish specific goals. 

The Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management team thanked all community members for their prompt response to the government warnings and official guidelines. The response teams and partners were praised for their efforts in containing the recent weather conditions, proving the success of the proactive measures implemented at all levels. 
The team emphasised the Sharjah Police's constant readiness to address all situations based on their prepared plans for handling emergencies and non-emergencies.
